We hand make exquisite chocolate from the finest quality ingredients,
locally sourced wherever possible.
Where does the name CocoMoyo come from? Coco
is from the ‘cocoa’ that
is chocolate, and Moyo is Swahili for heart, hearts symbolise love
and as everybody loves chocolate, need I say more, than CocoMoyo.
Our ethics, quality and flavours
At CocoMoyo we aim to give you a taste for real, high quality chocolate.
85% of the world’s chocolate is produced from the inferior Forestero
cocoa plant. This plant was introduced across Africa and other Cocoa
producing countries as it produces a high yield, yet the flavour is
very inferior. Therefore the large, mass producers of ‘high street’ chocolate
substitute flavour with lots of added sugar. Also cocoa butter should
be added to the chocolate process yet is often sold on to the cosmetic
industry and replaced by inferior vegetable and other fats. Go on,
take a closer look at your chocolate bar, you may be surprised what
else is
added.
We choose chocolate that is made from the Trinitario and/or the Criollo
plants. These are rarer yet more superior in quality, taste
and aroma. They don’t need the extras that are added, so
you get high quality chocolate with no nasty additives.
When we make our range of truffles, pralines and ganaches we choose
a range of natural flavours to excite your palate.
